The 2nd annual East-West Classic Shootout was held at Clover Creek Aerodrome in Toone, TN over the weekend. The field was in perfect condition cut to 1 inch for a look of pool top table. Pilots started to arrive Thursday to practice and setup. The flight line has an air-conditioned hanger with 2 full bathrooms and plenty of room to keep planes setup for the contest. Friday morning started at 6:15am with guys starting to practice. By mid-day 19 pilots arrived to setup and fly. Late afternoon the pilots and guests were treated to a hors d'oeuvres to let the pilots from both regions talk. Registration open Friday afternoon which was a big help to start judging assignments. Webmaster's Note: I'd
personally like
to thank Jim Strong for saving my bacon after I left the
power supply for my scoring laptop at home. Thankfully
Jim had brought his laptop along, so when my laptop
battery died, we were able to move the scoring
information over to his computer and continue. I'd also like to
thank my daughter April for helping me input the scores.
She helped with this task many years ago when she was
younger and hasn't lost her touch. |
